Superstition Leads St. Louis Man to Show Me Cash Jackpot
A 51-year-old from St. Louis is $79,791 richer after winning the Missouri Lottery Show Me Cash jackpot on Feb. 23. Arthur Walton purchased his winning ticket from QuikTrip, 6805 N. Hanley Road in Berkeley, the day of the drawing.
Walton noted that he decided to purchase the ticket because his daughters "left arm was itching," and according to Walton, that meant good luck.
"My daughter chose the first few numbers, and then I picked the rest," he said.
Walton was at home when he learned his daughter’s "arm itch" paid off in a big way.
"I called the Lottery to get the numbers," he began. "I went into super stealth mode when I heard my numbers were the same as the winning numbers. I wasn’t screaming. I was whispering."
Walton, a first time Lottery winner and father of three, plans to "get caught up on bills" with the prize money.
Show Me Cash
offers a rolling jackpot starting at $50,000, which increases by at least $5,000 at each drawing. Walton was the 22nd Show Me Cash jackpot winner since the game began on Sept. 8. The winning numbers from the Feb. 23 drawing were 4, 6, 23, 24 and 33. Since Show Me Cash began, more than $3.3 million has been awarded to players.
