Mexico Woman Uncovers $20,000 Prize

Story Photo The manager of a Mexico Quik Cash location received some “quick cash” of her own after she uncovered a $20,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Luck O’ The Irish” Scratchers ticket on Feb. 11.  Deborah “Debbie” Lucia, 52, said she had just gotten out of being “locked up” as part of a Muscular Dystrophy fund-raising promotion, when she stopped at Petro Mart, 1109 E. Liberty St. in Mexico, and bought $8 worth of tickets.

“I scratched them off in my car,” said Lucia.  “The first one I scratched was a $2 winner, and it ($20,000 winner) was the second one I scratched.”

Lucia said she plans to use her prize money to pay the sales tax and “plates” for her new car.  She also plans to pay off some debt and give her fiancé some money to pay for his upcoming visit to Mexico from the United Kingdom.

“I’ve had dreams about winning a big prize,” she said.  “This is a dream that I never thought would happen.”

Luck O’ The Irish” is a $2 game, which started Jan. 31.
