Kansas Woman Rings In New Year With $50,003 Lottery Prize

A Wathena, Kan., woman is ringing in the New Year after winning the top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Jingle Bell Bingo" Scratchers ticket.  Joyce D’Amico, 70, claimed her $50,003 prize on Jan. 9.

D’Amico purchased the winning ticket from Culver’s Riverside 66, 5430 Frederick in St. Joseph.

"Jingle Bell Bingo," a $3 game with a top prize of $50,000, officially began on Oct. 25. 

The Missouri Lottery generates nearly $1 billion a year in sales and contributes more than $265 million annually to Missouri public education programs, including the A+ Scholarship Program, the Virtual Schools program, Special Education Excess Costs, the Vocational Rehabilitation Program and Future Minority Teacher Scholarships.  In fiscal year 2008, the Missouri Lottery ranked sixth in percentage increase in sales among the 42 United States lotteries.
