Florissant Man Claims $200,000 Powerball Prize
A Florissant man and his wife are enjoying a profitable start to the New Year. Vernon and Betty Schmitz won $200,000 in the Missouri Powerball drawing on Dec. 24 when they matched all five white-ball numbers. The winning numbers were: 2, 17, 22, 32 and 41.
The Schmitz family purchased their winning ticket from Schnucks Market, 13987 New Halls Ferry Road in Florissant.
Powerball is a multi-state game that features jackpots starting at $20 million.
As of Jan. 4, sales of the new and improved Powerball game began, which raised the starting jackpot from $15 million to $20 million. Additional enhancements to the new game include average jackpots of $141 million, an automatic $1 million prize for matching five white balls and using the Power Play feature and better overall chances to win.
