Rolla Man Cashes in on "Mega Cash"

Story Photo A Saturday outing to the grocery store recently held a $10,000 surprise for Larry Drabczyk, 62, of Rolla. Drabczyk routinely purchases Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets, buying “whatever tickets happen to catch [his] eye.” He was taking his mother on their weekly trip to get groceries on Dec. 20, when he spied the “$250,000 Mega Cash” tickets.

“Boy, this is my lucky day,” he recalled thinking when he won small amounts on the tickets he purchased that day. It was then that he realized one of the tickets he bought with his initial winnings actually contained a $10,000 prize.

“My face hurt from smiling all day,” he said, recounting his first big Lottery win. “I was excited.”

He doesn’t have definite plans for the money just yet, but he did note that while the grandkids have a new laptop, “my daughter is still using one that’s about 15 years old.”

Drabczyk bought the winning ticket at Country Mart, 1040 Forum Dr. in Rolla.

"$250,000 Mega Cash," is a $10 Scratchers game with a top prize of $250,000. It officially began on Jan. 31, 2007.
