Florissant Man Wins $500,000 Scratchers Prize

Story Photo audio icon A 35-year-old Florissant man is the first person to claim the top prize on a "Season’s Greetings" Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.  Douglas Marcille, a network center technician for AT&T, stopped to buy coffee and a Lottery ticket on his way to work on Nov. 20.  The holiday-themed Scratchers ticket caught his eye at Earth City MotoMart, 3298 Ridertrail South in Earth City, but he waited until he got to work to scratch the ticket.

"I was actually at work, on break, and let out probably the loudest scream that building has ever heard," said Marcille.

Co-workers gathered around to look at the ticket and extend congratulations.

"Of course, they wish it happened to them as opposed to me," related Marcille.  "But everybody is really happy for me.  There’s definitely going to be some celebration going on."

Marcille took the afternoon off to claim his winning ticket at the St. Louis regional Lottery office.  He was joined by his fiancé, Tammy.  Plans for the money include fixing his vehicle and buying a new house.

"Our biggest plan is to buy a bigger house," explained Marcille.  "We are actually in the market of looking to purchase a house already, and this will definitely expedite things and make it considerably easier for us."

"Season’s Greetings" is a $10 game that officially began on Oct. 25.  The ticket features a top prize of $500,000, and is one of the eligible holiday-themed Scratchers tickets for the Missouri Lottery’s second-chance promotion "Holiday in Hawaii."
