Pilot Grove Couple Celebrate Anniversary With $25,000 Prize

Story Photo A couple from Pilot Grove enjoyed a very merry start to their holiday season this week.  Paul and Myrna Mills not only celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary, but they also became $25,000 richer on Nov. 16, one day before their anniversary.

"This was a great anniversary!" said Myrna Mills.

According to Myrna, her hand had been "itching" all day before they purchased the Missouri Lottery "Merry Money" Scratchers ticket from Casey’s, 1602 E. Broadway in Sedalia.

"My husband, Paul, suggested that I buy a Christmas Lottery ticket," said Mills.  "We scratched it off in the parking lot and couldn’t believe it!  We ran back into the store, and the ladies behind the counter were just as surprised as we were."

The Mills plan to pay off their van and truck with a portion of the winnings.

"I still can’t really believe that we won," said Myrna.  "It’s all still sinking in."

"Merry Money," a $2 game with a top prize of $25,000, officially began on Oct. 25.
