CONTRACTOR FROM EL DORADO SPRINGS WINS $25,000

A contractor from El Dorado Springs built up his income by $25,000 tax paid* playing last night’s Missouri Lottery SHOW ME 5 game. Edward "Ed" Nelson, 50, said he used numbers from his and his dad’s birthdays to pick the winning combination of 4, 12, 14, 21 and 22. Nelson purchased his winning ticket yesterday at Jump Stop, 115 E. Highway 54 in El Dorado Springs. Nelson said he plans to use the windfall to pay bills. He also plans to celebrate with a trip to Branson. To date, 869 tickets worth $25,000 tax paid* have been sold since the SHOW ME 5 game began six years ago. * Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
