Osage Beach Woman Wins $5,572 Keno Prize
An advertising sales representative from Osage Beach has been playing the same combination of family member’s birthdays, anniversaries and her personal favorite numbers for years to no avail. Karen Kahrs’ luck changed when she decided to take a break from watching a football game at Pickled Pete’s, 5276 Highway 54 in Osage Beach, and try her luck at Club Keno on Nov. 9.
"I got bored with the game, so I started to play Club Keno," said Kahrs. "I always play the same numbers: 5, 9, 22, 55, 69 and 72."
Kahrs, a first-time Lottery winner, asked a friend if she knew how much Club Keno paid for matching seven numbers, after realizing she had indeed finally matched all seven of her choice numbers.
"My friend said the ticket paid a few hundred dollars," said Kahrs. "I was excited about that, but then I turned the ticket over and saw that I really won about $5,000, which was even better. I probably checked my ticket at least five times right then and there."
Kahrs, 54, ended up walking away with a $5,572 Club Keno prize.
"I am going to take a trip to Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) with some of the prize money," said Kahrs. "I will probably get some new Harley boots and spoil my granddaughter a little, too," said Kahrs.
To play Club Keno, players can choose how many different numbers (also called "spots") they want to play from 1 to 10. Twenty numbers from a field of 1-80 are chosen in a computerized random Club Keno drawing held every five minutes.
