Hazelwood Woman Wins $1 Million Top Prize

Story Photo A day off from work led a Hazelwood woman to a very large paycheck on Oct. 3.  Marie Fingers, 53, of Hazelwood immediately called her husband after realizing she won the $1 million top prize on a Missouri Lottery ’’100 Million Dollar Blockbuster’’ Scratchers ticket that she purchased from MPC 99, 11902 Missouri Bottom Road in Hazelwood.

Fingers, a mother of three, didn’t reveal the good news to her husband right away.

’’I called and said, ’Im coming home, and I got to talk to you,’’’ explained Fingers to her husband, Edward, over the phone.

When asked about plans for the prize money, Fingers noted that she was going to pay off her home, among a few other things.

’’I want to buy my daughter a car,’’ said Fingers.  ’’I will probably get myself a car, too.’’

’’100 Million Dollar Blockbuster,’’ a $10 game with a top prize of $1 million, officially began on Sept. 27, 2007.
