Rolla Man Wins $100,000 in "Red Hot Cash"

Story Photo audio icon John Stanton of Rolla considers himself a very lucky person and wanted to be sure we understood how grateful he was.

"I want to thank God first thing," said Stanton.  "I’m very grateful, especially in these tough times, for this."

Stanton, 54, was thankful because one of the "Red Hot Cash" Scratchers tickets he bought on Oct. 17 concealed the top prize of $100,000.  Stanton bought the tickets at Mobil on the Run, 1710 N. Bishop in Rolla, and then scratched them while going through the car wash.

"I forgot to dry my car," recalled Stanton.

For the military retiree who is still recovering from some medical issues, this win brought a great deal of financial relief.   He quickly called his wife, Cathy, to tell her the good news.

"I’m going to pay off my mortgage," said Stanton.  "And then give some money to my kids, and my wife.  She’s getting ready to take a trip to Korea.  This is a big-time blessing."

"Red Hot Cash" is a $5 game that features a top prize of $100,000.  The game officially began on July 19 and has several prizes still available.
