St. Louis Man Wins $100,000 Top Prize

Story Photo An electrician from St. Louis felt the electricity after discovering he won the top prize on a Missouri Lottery "Silver & Gold" Scratchers ticket on Oct. 9.

John Marshall, 68, of St. Louis regularly stops by 7-Eleven, 2807 Sulphur Avenue in St. Louis, but his last trip yielded electric results when he discovered he won the $100,000 top prize on his "Silver & Gold" Scratchers ticket.

"I scratched the ticket off in my car," said Marshall.  "I couldn’t believe that I actually won.  I took the ticket back into the store and showed it to the clerk."

After a call to his wife, Ruthann, with the good news, Marshall continued on with his nightly duties of picking up dinner at the grocery store.

"I went to the store and made two copies of the ticket before I bought my groceries," said Marshall.

When asked what his plans were for the money, Marshall noted that he knew one thing for sure.

"I don’t know what I want to do with all the money, but I do know its going to be a good Christmas this year," said Marshall.

"Silver & Gold," a $5 game with a top prize of $100,000, officially began on Aug. 30.
