Arkansas Woman Wins $25,000 Top Prize

Story Photo An Arkansas woman received a $25,000 surprise during a trip to buy cigarettes on Oct. 15.  Jamie Cooper, 41, of Paragould, Ark., made her weekly trek to Missouri with her husband, Charlie, to Mr. T’s Liquor Store, 510 U.S. Highway 412 in Cardwell.  While at Mr. T’s Liquor Store, Cooper’s husband purchased a Missouri Lottery "Monopoly" Scratchers ticket, which he gave to his wife to scratch off in the parking lot.

"At first I thought I won $25," said Cooper.  "When I saw that I really won $25,000, I showed the ticket to my husband, and then ran back into the store to show it to the clerk."

Cooper, a first-time Lottery winner, noted that she had a few ideas for the prize money.

"I am going to donate some to my church," said Cooper.  "After that, my husband wants a motorcycle, but well have to see about that.  Well probably end up getting one, though."

"Monopoly," a $2 game with a top prize of $25,000, officially began on Oct. 4.
