Mexico Business Owner Wins New Home

Shirley Steinman of Mexico is planning to remodel her house after winning $300,000 taxes paid* to build or buy a new home in the Missouri Lottery’s “Take It Home II” promotion in a drawing held on Sept. 12.

“What are you going to do with a new home?” a friend asked Steinman on the afternoon of the drawing.  Steinman was at work at the body shop she owns with her husband, Ben, and had just returned from a delivery in Bowling Green when her friend told her she was the grand-prize winner in the “Take It Home II” promotion.

“I never dreamed I would win this,” Steinman said.

Steinman is still considering how she will use her prize money.

“We talked about (a new house), but that’s about as far as I got,” Steinman said.  “I will remodel my house, I can guarantee you.”

To enter the promotion, players submitted $40 worth of any combination of the four eligible Scratchers tickets for this promotion.  The eligible games were: “Lifetime Riches,” a $10 game; “$250,000 Mega Cash,” a $10 game; “100 Million Dollar Blockbuster,” a $10 game; and “4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza,” a $20 game.  Each entry was eligible for one weekly drawing and the grand-prize drawing on Sept. 12.

One prize of $10,000 cash and six prizes of $1,000 cash were awarded in each weekly drawing.  The Missouri Lottery will pay standard federal and state taxes for each prize awarded in the promotion.
