LAKE OZARK MAN COLLECTS $25,000 PRIZE
A quick stop at an Apache Flats business turned out to be worth $25,000 to a Lake Ozark man who matched all five SHOW ME 5 numbers March 9 to win the game’s tax-paid* top prize. Jason Armstrong, 22, said he bought the winning ticket when he stopped at Apache Flats Market to buy a soda.
"The clerk asked me if I wanted to buy a ticket, so I said ’yeah, go ahead and give me one,’" Armstrong said. "I hardly ever buy tickets, so I never thought I would win anything."
Armstrong, a sales representative for Designer Studio in Lake Ozark, said he plans to use some of his winnings to pay off credit cards. He also plans to put some of the money in the bank. He let the computer select his winning numbers. They were: 10, 11, 12, 17 and 21.
* Twenty-eight percent federal and 4 percent state taxes are withheld from the total prize amount of $36,764.70 to provide $25,000 cash at the time of redemption. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may receive a refund.
