Independence Woman, Holts Summit Man Win $10,000 In Promotion
Judy Barnett, Independence, and Mike Acree, Holts Summit, are both $10,000 richer after winning the first prize in the Missouri Lottery’s second and third drawings for the "Take It Home II" promotion. Six other players also won $1,000 cash prizes in each of the drawings. Barnett won the first prize in the second drawing on Aug. 22, and Acree won in the third drawing on Aug. 29.
Barnett had double the luck. She was a second-prize winner of $1,000 in the first “Take It Home II” drawing.
“I find it difficult to believe,” Barnett said. “I’m hoping for that $300,000 prize next.”
Barnett plans to use her prize money to pay off her car, and she might save some of the money for Christmas shopping.
Acree plans to use his prize money for a down payment on a house. He recently moved back to Missouri from Florida and has been looking for a house with his family.
Acree found out he had won the first-prize when he stopped by Lottery headquarters to drop off entries for the next drawing. He asked a Lottery employee if the winners had been announced yet, and she replied that the winner was “a fellow from Holts Summit.”
“That would be me,” Acree joked. “I’m from Holts Summit.”
After checking the winners list, the Lottery employee confirmed that Acree was in fact the $10,000 winner.
