Dream Ignites $20,000 Red Hot Cash Win for Wellsville Woman
Malena Hinten, Wellsville, couldn’t believe her eyes when she scratched off her “Red Hot
Cash” Scratchers ticket that she purchased from L&D Discount Tobacco Shop, 2120 E. Liberty St. in Mexico,
on Aug. 1 and discovered that she had won $20,000.
According to Hinten, a graphic artist originally from Ohio, something her husband mentioned last month
fueled her to buy one of the Lottery’s newer Scratchers games.
“My husband, Josh, had a dream that he won on a ticket with flames all over it. But, there weren’t any
tickets like that for sale at the time he told me about the dream, so I kept waiting. Then, I saw the tickets with flames everywhere, and I just had to get one,” explained Hinten.
Hinten, a mother of two children, Jon, 17, and Baye, 16, plans to use the prize money to pay off bills. When
asked if she planned to do anything else with the money, Hinten said, “I will have a little bit of fun with my family, too.”
“Red Hot Cash”
is a $5 dollar game that features a top prize of $100,000. The game began on July 19 and
gives players a chance to win up to 20 times on a single ticket.
