St. Louis Woman Lands "Mega Fortune"

Story Photo audio icon A St. Louis school employee has been enjoying a lucky streak playing the Missouri Lottery.  Susan French, 44, has won several lottery prizes this year, including her most recent – the top prize of $100,000 on a "Mega Fortune" Scratchers ticket.  She bought the ticket on July 6 at Phillips 66, 3307 Lemay Ferry in St. Louis.

"I was leaving my mom’s, so I stopped there," said French.  "I had $5 left.  I had never played it (that game), so I decided to buy it."

That purchase was a good move for French, who feels as though she’s on a winning streak.  French normally plays "Crossword" and "Bingo" Scratchers, where she has won $5,000 and $10,000, respectively.  Earlier this summer, she won the second prize in the "Muscle Up" second-chance promotion - a beach vacation.  She took the cash option and says her husband is taking her on a different vacation.

"He’s taking me to Vegas.  I’ve never been," French explained.

In addition to supplementing their vacation plans, French plans to use some of the money for her four daughters.  The oldest turns 16 this year and will be needing transportation.

"I was pretty excited," recalled French.  "At first I thought it was $5,000, and then I kept scratching, and I counted them and realized it was $100,000."

"Mega Fortune" is a $5 game that began on Jan. 12.
