LEAP DAY BRINGS UNEXPECTED WINDFALL TO TENNESSEAN

One Tennessee man is glad there was an extra day this year. On Leap Day, just two days before his 22nd birthday, Nicolas Sanders of Ripley, Tenn., uncovered a $100,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Big Money" Scratchers ticket. Sanders bought his winning ticket Tuesday at Car-Mac’s Mart & Tobacco in Steele, when he and some co-workers stopped for a soda after work. Sanders, who works in construction pouring concrete, said he bought three "Big Money" lottery tickets, and the first one he scratched off was the winner. He has been purchasing the tickets during the past week or so during his travels through Missouri to a construction job in Arkansas. "The guys I work with have been laughing at me (for buying lottery tickets)," said Sanders. For now, Sanders’ only plans are to save the money. "Big Money," a $3 game from the Missouri Lottery, officially went on sale Feb. 12.
