Harrisonville Woman Wins $100,000 Instantly

Story Photo A stop at Casey’s in Garden City lead to a $100,000 instant prize for a Harrisonville woman.  Melissa Carmichael, 22, bought a "Jumbo Bucks" Scratchers ticket at Casey’s, 52 Highway F in Garden City.  Carmichael scratched off the ticket in the parking lot and uncovered the top prize of $100,000.  Not knowing what to do next, Carmichael immediately started calling friends and family to tell them about her win.  Eventually, under the guidance of her aunt, Carmichael traveled to Jefferson City to claim the prize.

"I bought it at noon," related Carmichael.  "It was the best time of my life.  It’s exciting."

Carmichael said she didn’t have many ideas for the money yet, but a trip to Arkansas has been scrapped for bigger plans.

"I’ll probably help my family, pay off my car and some bills, and then have some fun," said Carmichael.

"Jumbo Bucks" is a $5 Scratchers game with a top-prize of $100,000.  The game began on March 1 and has four top prizes remaining.
