College Student Home for the Summer Wins $6,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo A Montgomery City woman can pay for school expenses after uncovering a $6,000 prize on a Missouri Lottery "Triple Cash" Scratchers ticket.  Chelsea Hans, 19, said she bought one $1 ticket on June 13 at Mertens Mini Mart, 6603 State Rd. NN in Fulton, before a float trip on the Meramec River with her brother and sister-in-law.

"I wanted to pick up a copy of the newspaper because my cousin was in it.  I had an extra dollar and decided to buy a Scratchers ticket," she said.  "I screamed and had to check my ticket 50 times to believe it."

Hans, who is a student at Arizona State University in Phoenix, said she plans to use the prize money to pay for college, go on a little shopping trip and invest the rest.

The $1 "Triple Cash" Scratchers game officially started on May 3.
