St. Louis Man Claims $50,000 Tax-Paid Lottery Prize

A St. Louis (63129)* man won $50,000 tax paid** when the five numbers on his SHOW ME 5 Paydown ticket matched the five numbers drawn May 13 during the Evening drawing.  Melvin Bequette, 83, purchased his winning ticket at Dierbergs, 8 Four Seasons Center in Chesterfield.

Bequette used Quick Pick to select his winning numbers, which were:  8, 14, 28, 39 and 40. 

To date, 134 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since the game began on Nov. 6, 2000.

**The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value.  Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund.  Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55.  After withholdings, the winners will receive $50,000.  If more than 14 tickets match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
