COLUMBIA MAN TO AUDITION FOR "WHEEL OF FORTUNE" GAME SHOW
An air traffic control specialist for the Columbia airport will soon be flying to Hollywood to audition for a spot in an upcoming "Wheel of Fortune" television game show. Michael Puidk’s name was drawn Tuesday in the fifth of six Missouri Lottery "Wheel of Fortune" promotion drawings. The lottery received approximately 18,000 entries for the fifth drawing.
The prize includes a trip for two to Hollywood for four days and three nights, complete with airfare, hotel accommodations and airport/studio shuttle. Each of the six top-prize winners will also receive a check for $1,000 and will get a chance to audition for the "Wheel of Fortune" game show. Puidk’s audition date is set for March 22.
In addition to the trip and cash, the lottery will also pay 4 percent state and 28 percent federal withholding taxes on the value of the prize package.
If Puidk is selected to be a contestant on a future "Wheel of Fortune" game show as a result of the audition, he will be flown back to Hollywood for another complimentary three days and two nights stay to compete on the show.
The Missouri Lottery’s "Wheel of Fortune" promotion started Sept. 25, 1999, and will end April 14. To enter, players can use non-winning "Wheel of Fortune" Scratchers tickets, watch the syndicated "Wheel of Fortune" game show and note which television contestant won the game show on the date watched, along with the position of the winning player.
Puidk’s winning ticket was completed with information from the Jan. 30 show, which aired on KOMU, Channel 8, in Columbia. Puidk purchased his winning ticket at Nowell’s United Super, 1005 W. Worley St. in Columbia. Puidk said he sent in a couple dozen entries for the drawing.
To enter, players should take entries in business-size envelopes to any Missouri Lottery office or mail them to:

The sixth and final drawing will be held April 28. The deadline to enter is April 14.
