Nelson Man Wins Top Lottery Prize

Story Photo Jerry Leimkuehler, Nelson, is $30,000 richer after uncovering the top prize on a Missouri Lottery "$30,000 Payday" Scratchers ticket.  Leimkuehler, 44, bought his ticket on April 1 at Countryside Convenience, Highway 41 & AA in Napton, and scratched it off right away.
"The further down I went (on the ticket), the more amazed I was," Leimkuehler said of uncovering his prize.
Since he won the $30,000 prize on April Fools Day, Leimkuehler had a difficult time convincing his wife he had won.  The oldest of their three daughters was with him when he uncovered the prize, and they called Leimkuehler’s wife right away.
"They had a hard time making me believe it on the phone," said Rayetta Leimkuehler.
Leimkuehler, who works at LaCrosse Lumber Co. in Marshall, plans to use his prize money to pay off bills and possibly to take a vacation in the summer.
"$30,000 Payday," a $2 game, officially began on Jan. 12.
