Jefferson City Woman Uncovers $10,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo A Jefferson City woman is now thinking about going back to school after she won $10,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" Scratchers game.  Kim Richter, 40, purchased her winning ticket on March 25 at Phillips MPC, 301 Ellis Blvd. in Jefferson City.
Richter, who works as a permit agent at Xero-Fax Inc. in Jefferson City, said she has always wanted to work in the healthcare field and now is hoping to go back to school to get her degree.  She plans to use the prize money to pay off her car, so she can start back to school a little sooner than expected.
Richter said she won $20 on a "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" Scratchers ticket and cashed it in for another ticket.
"I thought I was seeing things," Richter said about scratching the winning ticket.  "I had to enter the (12 winning amounts) three times on my calculator before I could believe it.  I couldn’t even think."
Richter said she called her husband, Keith, and asked him if he was "sitting down or driving.  I didn’t want to tell him if he was driving," she added.
The $20 "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" Scratchers game, which officially began on Jan. 26, offers four top prizes of $4 million and 16 prizes of $1 million.
