LINN WOMAN USES LUCKY PENNY TO SCRATCH OFF $25,000

A Linn woman, who used a lucky penny she found in a parking lot, recently scratched off a $25,000 prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "Holiday Bingo" Scratchers game. Barbara Lehmen, 53, said she has always been superstitious about finding pennies. On Saturday, she went to Family Dollar in Linn to buy an ornament for a Christmas exchange. She parked in the adjoining Thriftway Supermarket parking lot. When she came out of Family Dollar and was walking back to her car, she found a "lucky" penny under a Christmas tree for sale on Thriftway’s lot. Taking it as a "sign," Lehmen went into Thriftway and bought some Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets. One of them, a $2 Holiday Bingo ticket, turned out to be worth $25,000. Lehmen, who is an assistant bookkeeper for the Linn R-II school district, said she and her husband, A.J., plan to use the money to pay some bills and put the rest in the bank. The Missouri Lottery’s $2 "Holiday Bingo" game officially started Nov. 4.
