Columbia Man Builds Vacation Fund After Winning $11,000

Story Photo A Columbia man and his family are starting to plan a vacation to Hawaii after he won $10,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game "Lifetime Riches."  David Finke, 33, purchased his winning ticket a few weeks ago at Gerbes, 2900 N. Paris Road in Columbia.  He redeemed the ticket on March 7, along with a winning "Blazin’ Hot Bucks" Scratchers ticket worth $1,000, which was purchased at Moser’s Price Chopper, 705 Business Loop 70 W. in Columbia.
Finke, owner of Finke Mortgage and Finke Development, both in Columbia, said he and his wife, Kimberly, have always wanted to travel to Hawaii, so now they are beginning to make their travel plans.
Finke said he only buys Lottery tickets occasionally, so he was surprised when a ticket he purchased was worth $1,000, and then a few weeks later, a second ticket he bought was worth $10,000.
"I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, so I took (the ticket) home to let my wife look at it,"
Finke said about the ticket worth $10,000.  "Really, I never win anything.  I guess I was just really lucky."
"Lifetime Riches," a $10 game, officially began on April 22, 2006.  "Blazin’ Hot Bucks," a $5 game, officially began on March 1, 2007.
