St. Louis Man Wins $200,000 Powerball Prize

Story Photo A St. Louis (63143) man is $200,000 richer after winning a second-level Missouri Lottery Powerball prize for the Feb. 27 drawing.  Brian Hayes, 31, matched all five white-ball numbers to win the $200,000 prize.  His winning numbers were 20, 24, 37, 48 and 53.  He used Quick Pick to let the computer choose his numbers.
"I paused my Tivo," Hayes said about watching the drawing on television and learning that he had won.
Hayes, a fire and safety specialist for the Missouri Department of Corrections, said he plans to pay bills with his prize money.
"We’ll get a nice little house, maintain a good living and just have less stress," Hayes said.
Hayes added that the prize came at a good time since his cousin, who recently returned home from Iraq, is getting married in Buffalo, N.Y., on May 10.
"It will be a lovely trip," Hayes said.  "Now we can stay a few extra days."
Hayes purchased his winning ticket at Shop N Save, 7355 Manchester in Maplewood.  Hayes’ ticket was the 91st second-level winning Powerball ticket in Missouri since the game redesign in Aug. 2005.
