Co-Workers From Bowling Green Facility Named Lottery Team of the Month

Story Photo Congratulations to the "Powerplay Wanna Bes" of Bowling Green!  The group was recognized as the Lottery Team of the Month for March as part of the Missouri Lottery’s 2008 Lottery Captains promotion.  The promotion awards a Lottery players group with prizes and a feature at Molottery.com each month during the calendar year.
The "Powerplay Wanna Bes" are a group of 12 co-workers from Country View Skilled Nursing Facility in Bowling Green who have played Powerball together for three and a half years.  The members are:  Golda Turner (team captain), Mary Campbell, Debbie Blentlinger and Sharon Greene, all of Louisiana; Chris Maxson, Bertha Kemry, Sam Dameron, Annabelle Garrison and Carol Moore, all of Bowling Green; Sallie Grote, Curryville; Dina Littlefield, Nebo, Ill.; and Shirley Taylor, Rockport, Ill.
The team plays Powerball with Power Play for each drawing.  They each put in $2 per drawing.  Power Play is a feature that allows players for $1 extra per play to multiple their prize, other than the jackpot.  A wheel is spun following the Powerball drawing to determine if the multiplier is 2, 3, 4 or 5.  March 30 through April 30, the Power Play 10X promotion will replace one of the 5s on the wheel with a 10, letting players have the chance to multiply their prize up to $2 million.
Turner buys the team’s tickets at Abel’s Quik Shop, 720N. 3rd in Louisiana.  They use Quick Pick to let the computer select their number combinations.
The "Powerplay Wanna Bes" reinvest their small prizes for future drawings.  They have won $400 before, and they split that larger prize.
"We keep playing with the hope we’re going to win big," Turner said.  "It’s a lot of fun."
Turner said the "Powerplay Wanna Bes" are a great group of co-workers and it’s fun for them play together.
"It’s an honor to me because they trust me to be the team captain," Turner said.
As the team captain for the group, Turner has learned what it takes to have a good team.
"Hang in there and keep playing," Turner tells other Lottery teams.  "You never know when you might win big."
