Illinois Couple Share Instant Lottery Prize

Story Photo Sarah Webster, Fairview Heights, Ill., and her boyfriend, Corey Howard, Highland, Ill., shared more than common interests when they uncovered $25,003 on a "Block Bingo" Scratchers ticket from the Missouri Lottery.
On Feb. 25, the couple stopped at Break Time, 1416 Old Highway 63 S. in Columbia, because Webster wanted a soda.  Howard, 20, had bought a couple of Scratchers tickets for himself and Webster a few days earlier.  Webster, 18, wanted to return the gesture, so she bought each of them a $2 "Block Bingo" Scratchers ticket.  One of the tickets ended up being worth $25,003.
"She almost wrecked us," Howard said about the moment they discovered their win.
"There was a lot of jumping involved," Webster said.  "I’m so excited.  I never win anything."
Howard and Webster both said they enjoy playing bingo Scratchers games because the play action lasts longer, making them more fun to play.
Webster, a biology major, plans to use her prize money to get a different car and to help with tuition expenses.
Howard, who works for a car dealership in Illinois, plans to pay off his students loans.
The couple also planned to go shopping and to celebrate with their friends the next time Webster is home from college.
"Block Bingo," a $2 game, officially began on Jan. 12.
