St. Louis Family Shares $77,000 Scratchers Prize

Story Photo A St. Louis (63136) couple and their daughter are counting their blessings after they won $77,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game "Lucky 7s."  Minnie Jones, 63, her husband, Eddie Jones, 65, and their daughter, Tonia Jones, 37, also of St. Louis (63114), are sharing the game’s top prize.  The winning ticket was purchased on Feb. 10 at Stelmacki Super Market, 9965 Lewis and Clark Blvd. in Moline Acres.
"I scratched the ticket off at home, and thought I won $1,000 at first," Minnie Jones said.  "When I saw the full prize amount, I couldn’t believe it.  I called Tonia on the phone, and she was more excited than me."
Minnie Jones said she and Eddie plan to use their share of the prize money to pay off some bills and maybe plan a little trip to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary this spring.  Tonia Jones plans to use her prize money to pay bills.
"Lucky 7s," a $5 game, officially began on July 14, 2007.
