Ste. Genevieve Woman Keeps Winning in the Family

Story Photo A Ste. Genevieve woman is planning to start a college fund for her two grandchildren after she won $100,000 playing the Missouri Lottery Scratchers game, "Deal or No Deal."  Karen Kraenzle, 49, purchased her winning ticket on Jan. 29 while shopping at Country Mart, 180 Plaza Dr. in Ste. Genevieve.  Kraenzle’s brother, Paul Koller, also of Ste. Genevieve, won $1 million playing Lotto on July 17, 2004.
"I took the ticket home and scratched it," Kraenzle said.  "I couldn’t believe it.  I started calling my family."
In addition to setting up college funds for her two grandchildren, Kraenzle, who works at Eric Scott Leathers Ltd. in Ste. Genevieve, said she and her husband, David, also plan to use their winnings to pay off a few bills, share some with their two daughters and put money back for their future.
"Deal or No Deal," a $5 game, officially began on Sept. 1, 2007.
