Kansas City Area Trio Wins $1 Million Lottery Prize

Donald "Ed" Simms, 49, Michael Decker, 35, and Anna Palatynusz, 55, are $1 million richer after deciding to go together to buy a "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.  Simms, Independence, and Decker, Kansas City (64133)* work at Blue Ridge Food Stop, 4704 Blue Ridge Blvd. in Kansas City, where the group purchased the ticket.  Palatynusz, Kansas City (64133)* is a regular customer at the store, so the three decided to go together to purchase the $20 Scratchers ticket on Jan. 28.
"It was a fun way to try it," Simms said.  "We were pretty darn excited."
Simms said that Decker and his family are planning to buy a new house, and Palatynusz is planning to buy a new car.  Simms and his wife are also planning to buy a new car.
"We were joking about a golden ticket," Simms said.  "It’s amazing it came to our little shop."
The group’s ticket is the first $1 million winner in the "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" game.  It’s the 24th instant winner worth $1 million or more and the 244th overall winner of at least $1 million.  The $20 "4 Million Dollar Cash Bonanza" Scratchers game offers four top prizes of $4 million and 16 prizes of $1 million.  The game officially began on Jan. 26.
