St. Louis Man Wins $50,000 Instantly

A retired St. Louis (63136) man can use the winter months to remodel his bathroom and kitchen after he uncovered a $50,000 top prize on a Missouri Lottery “Crossword” Scratchers game. Robert “Bob” Wulfert, 73, said he thought he only won $5,000 on Jan. 15, when he bought the ticket at the DRP Petroleum Phillips 66, 10620 New Halls Ferry Road in St. Louis. It wasn’t until he went to redeem the ticket at the Lottery’s St. Louis office that he realized he actually won $50,000.
“We’ve been wanting to fix up our bathroom and kitchen, so we’ll probably do that,” said Wulfert, who is a retired truck driver.
Wulfert also said he thinks his wife, Doris, will now be able to retire from her position at a military records center.
"Crossword," a $3 game, officially began on Sept. 1, 2007.
