SPRINGFIELD WOMAN WINS $50,000 TAX-PAID PRIZE

A Springfield woman is $50,000 richer after she matched all five numbers in the Nov. 25 SHOW ME 5 Paydown drawing. Carolyn Poore, 54, purchased her tax-paid winning ticket at Fastrip Store, 1472 E. Kearney in Springfield. Poore let the computer pick the winning numbers on her ticket. They were: 4, 5, 29, 30 and 36. SHOW ME 5 Paydown, a daily game, began Nov. 6 with a new top prize of $50,000 tax paid* along with a paydown feature that, if the top prize is not won that night, the other prizes will more than double. The game also offers prizes for matching two, three and four numbers. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 10.97. *The Missouri Lottery will pay 28 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $73,529.41. After withholding, winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 players match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will be divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
