Boonville Woman Wins $10,000 Lottery Prize on Christmas Day

Story Photo Christmas dinner turned out to be fruitful for a Boonville woman who won $10,000 instantly after she uncovered the prize on a Missouri Lottery "100 Million Dollar Blockbuster" Scratchers ticket. Tamera Latham, 35, said she took her 6-year-old son out for dinner at Bobber Restaurant, 2500 Main St. in Boonville, on Dec. 25. Her son wanted to play some arcade games, so Latham purchased three Scratchers tickets – one $10 "100 Million Dollar Blockbuster" ticket and two $5 tickets – to play while she waited for him.
"I scratched off half of the $10 ticket, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, so I stuck it under the other two tickets and scratched them off first," Latham said. "Then I went back to the $10 ticket. I didn’t want anyone to know I had won, so I didn’t even tell my son until we got out to the car."
Latham, who is a full-time student at the University of Missouri-Columbia, said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills.
"100 Million Dollar Blockbuster," a $10 game, officially began on Sept. 26.
