Columbia Grandmother Wins $25,002 Lottery Prize

Story Photo A Columbia grandmother celebrated a green Christmas after uncovering $25,002 playing the Missouri Lottery Scratchers game "Frosty Bingo." Geraldine Jeffries, 74, asked her husband, Eli, to buy her $20 worth of Scratchers tickets on Dec. 21. He bought her 10 $2 tickets at Fast Lane, 520 E. Hinton in Columbia.
Jeffries scratched her tickets that evening and couldn’t believe that she won the top prize of $25,002 on a "Frosty Bingo" ticket.
"I think my heart stopped for a minute," Jeffries said when she claimed her prize on Dec. 26. "I kept looking at it over the weekend and checking it over to be sure it was right."
Jeffries, the grandmother of six and great-grandmother of four, said she has "no idea" what she will do with her prize money.
"Frosty Bingo," a $2 game, officially began on Oct. 27.
