Springfield Man Wins $10,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo A Springfield man said winning $10,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game "Lifetime Riches" couldn’t have come at a better time. Scott Wright, 31, said he was on his way home from work on Nov. 30 when he stopped at Village Mart, 2720 W. Kearney in Springfield, to buy gas and a few Lottery tickets.
Wright said when he scratched off the first prize on the first ticket it read that he had won $500.
"I saw that I had won $500, but it didn’t register," Wright said. "I thought it was wrong. But then the second and third numbers matched and the prizes were $500 again. I kept scratching and all of the numbers were matching. I started to count the prize amounts, but I thought I should be calling my wife instead."
Wright, a mixer at Crescent Feed Co. Inc. in Springfield, said he called his wife, Amanda, and told her that he had won. She asked him how much, but he said he hadn’t added the amounts up yet.
"I started counting the amounts again, and we couldn’t believe it," Wright said.
Wright said he and his wife plan to use his winnings to pay a few bills, buy a little extra for Christmas and put the rest of the money in the bank.
"Lifetime Riches," a $10 game, officially began on April 22, 2006.
