Valles Mines Man Wins $50,000 Tax-Paid Lottery Prize

A retired Valles Mines man won $50,000 tax paid* when he matched all five numbers in the Nov. 19 Evening SHOW ME 5 Paydown drawing. Louis Casey purchased his winning ticket at BP Amoco, 3201 Papin Road in De Soto.
"I just thought, ’Boy, am I lucky,’" Casey told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize on Nov. 27.
Casey, a retired electrician, said he and his wife, Jean, are still undecided about what they will do with their winnings, but he plans to put it in the bank until then.
Casey randomly selected his winning numbers, which were: 3, 7, 12, 25 and 31.
To date, 130 players have matched all five numbers drawn to win $50,000 tax paid in SHOW ME 5 Paydown since the game began on Nov. 6, 2000.

* The Missouri Lottery will pay 25 percent federal and 4 percent state withholding taxes for the top prize based on its value. Depending on personal income, winners may owe additional taxes for the prize, or they may be entitled to a refund. Total value of the top prize is $70,422.55. After withholding, the winners will receive $50,000. If more than 14 tickets match the five winning numbers in a single drawing, $1 million will divided equally among the number of winning tickets.
