Martinsburg Woman Uncovers $20,000 Lottery Prize

Story Photo The family of Lois Ahrens, Martinsburg, probably will be receiving a few extra gifts this holiday season after Ahrens won $20,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s Scratchers game, "100 Million Dollar Blockbuster." Ahrens purchased her winning ticket on Nov. 13 at QuikTrip, 3211 Clark Lane in Columbia.
"I was done with my Christmas shopping, but I’ll probably do a little more now," Ahrens, 52, said when she claimed her prize.
Ahrens, who works at MBS in Columbia, said she stopped at QuikTrip on the way home from work and cashed in $12 worth of winning Scratchers tickets. She purchased two $1 tickets and one $10 "100 Million Dollar Blockbuster" Scratchers ticket.
"I scratched them off in the car," Ahrens said. "I called my daughter first, and then I called my husband. They both screamed when I told them."
In addition to spending a little more for Christmas, Ahrens said she and her husband, Neil, plan to share the prize with their three children and pay down the loan on a new vehicle.
"100 Million Dollar Blockbuster," a $10 game, officially began on Sept. 26.
