Ava Mom Uncovers $1 Million Scratchers Prize
A 21-year-old Ava mom is planning to look for a new home for her family after she uncovered a $1 million top prize in the Missouri Lottery’s "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" Scratchers game. Angela Holman, 21, purchased her winning ticket at Casey’s, 502 E. Washington in Ava, on Oct. 2.
"When I scratched it off, I didn’t believe what I saw," Holman said. "I took it over to one of my friends to let him see it, and he said that it looked right. I looked at it again, and I ran into Casey’s and hugged the lady who sold me the ticket. I told her I would love her forever."
Holman said when she showed her fiancé, Richard Porter, the ticket, "he was amazed."
"The news got around town so fast," Holman said. "It was crazy. I had people showing up at my house, and people were shaking my hand at the store. I think everybody in Ava knows."
Holman, a stay-at-home mother of three children, said in addition to buying a new home for her family, she said she and Porter also plan to make some investments for the children’s futures and maybe take them on a fun family vacation.
"We can now buy a house that is completely ours," Holman said. "This is so exciting. Everybody is so happy for us."
The "$100 Million Cash Spectacular" game started on Sept. 10, 2005, and has one of the highest payouts in the Lottery’s history. To date, 237 Missouri Lottery tickets worth $1 million or more have been sold in the Lottery’s 21 years of sales. Of those winning tickets, 21 were from Scratchers games, eight of which have been from the "$100 Million Cash Spectacular
