Rolla Man Uncovers $20,000 Prize

Story Photo Jumping up and down at G’s Discount Tobacco and Liquor, 1056 Kingshighway in Rolla, got Charles Hunt of Rolla a lot of attention from store personnel on Sept. 30. Hunt said the store personnel thought something was wrong, but instead everything was right. Hunt had just uncovered a $20,000 prize on a "$250,000 Mega Cash" Scratchers ticket.
"They asked me if everything was okay," Hunt, 42, recalled about the store personnel responding to his excitement after scratching the ticket. "I really did think I won $100 at first, but when I scratched off the first prize and it was $1,000, I couldn’t believe it."
Hunt’s ticket included 20 $1,000 prizes to win the game’s $20,000 second-level prize.
Hunt, a corrections officer at South Central Correctional Center in Licking, said he and his wife, Edeltraud, plan to use their prize money to purchase a gas-efficient car, trade his motorcycle for a newer model and to save for a trip to Germany to visit family.
"$250,000 Mega Cash," a $10 game, officially began on Jan. 31. It offers more than $100 million in prizes, including $250,000 top prizes.
