Troy Man Uncovers Top Scratchers Prize

Aug. 30 just became a Troy man’s lucky day after he won $77,500 playing Missouri Lottery Scratchers tickets. On Aug. 30, Stephan King, 19, won $500 on one Scratchers ticket. Later that same day, he stopped at Shell, 9708 Natural Bridge in Berkeley, and bought four "Lucky 7’s" Scratchers tickets. One of those tickets was worth $77,000.
"I dropped the quarter I was scratching (the ticket) with when I thought I won $1,000," King told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize. "Then I read the ticket and saw the horseshoe and realized that I had won $77,000. I still can’t believe it. It couldn’t have come at a better time."
King, who works in landscaping, said he plans to give a few gifts to family members and put the rest of his winnings in the bank and investments.
"I plan to be smart with it," he said.
 "Lucky 7’s," a $5 Scratchers game, officially began on July 14, 2007.
