Ozark Woman Wins $10,000 Instantly
An Ozark woman thought she had done something wrong when she looked at her "Deal or No Deal" Scratchers ticket and it appeared that she won $10,000. Millie Latta, 45, said she had bought a few Scratchers tickets on her way to work on Sept. 1, but didn’t think about scratching them until later that evening.
"I thought I did something wrong because there was no way I won $10,000," Latta told Lottery officials when she claimed her prize. "I showed the ticket to my son-in-law, and he said he thought it looked like I won $10,000, too."
Latta said she took the ticket to a retail location to have it checked, and the clerk told her that she could not pay that high of a prize.
"That was all I needed to hear," Latta said. "I just wanted someone else to tell me that it was worth $10,000."
Latta, an assistant retail manager, purchased her winning ticket at Bob’s EZ Stop, 201 W. South in Ozark.
Latta said she and her husband, Jon, plan to use her winnings to pay off some debts and remodel their bathroom.
"Deal or No Deal
," a $5 ticket, officially began on Sept. 1.
