St. Louis Area Co-Workers Win $200,000 Powerball Prize
A group of co-workers from the St. Louis area are all planning to save money for their children’s futures after winning a $200,000 Powerball prize for the Aug. 25 drawing. The group of five co-workers are splitting the prize and will receive $40,000 each prior to taxes being withheld. Their winning numbers are 2, 8, 23, 29 and 35.
The lucky group of co-workers are Christine Bell, 46, of Imperial; Cheri Schmitt, 40, of Lebanon, Ill.; Donna Jansberg, 44, of St. Louis (63129); Arthur Duy, 60, of St. Louis (63123); and Sharon Martin-Reibe, 43, of St. Louis (63116).
Bell purchased the group’s winning ticket at Gas Mart, 2099 Old State Route 21 in Imperial, on Aug. 23. Bell said the group has been playing both Powerball and the Illinois Lottery’s multi-state game Mega Millions on and off for two years. Bell checked their numbers on Sunday and couldn’t believe it when she saw that they had won the second-level prize.
"I thought I made an error, and I had my son check it," Bell said.
Bell said most of the five lucky winners have young children, and they’re planning to save their prize money for the future, and they have talked about taking vacations. The co-workers are also going out to lunch as a group to celebrate their win.
"I’m still waiting for it to sink in," Bell said.
This ticket was the 81st second-level winning Powerball
ticket since the game redesign on Aug. 28, 2005.
