Lottery Lightning Strikes Twice For Jefferson City Woman

Story Photo Lori Emery of Jefferson City has declared Aug. 6 as her lucky day after winning a big Lottery prize on that date two times. Emery, 37, uncovered a $10,000 prize on the Missouri Lottery Scratchers game "$250,000 Mega Cash" on Aug. 6, 2007. On Aug. 6, 2000, she won $40,000 on a Kansas Lottery instant ticket.
"There’s something about that date," Emery said.
Emery purchased her winning ticket at Stacy’s Market & Grill, 6821 Highway 50 W. in Jefferson City. She scratched the first prize and was excited when she thought she had won $500.
"The $500s just kept coming," Emery said.
Emery plans to use her prize money to pay bills and pay the taxes on her new car.
"And, I’m want to do something nice for my family and friends," Emery said.
The $10 game "$250,000 Mega Cash," began on Jan. 31. It offers 30 top prizes of $250,000 and more than $100 million in cash prizes.
