Springfield Student Wins New Home
Will Holtsclaw, 22, will start life after college with a new home. The Missouri State University student won $300,000 tax paid* to build or buy a new home in the Missouri Lottery’s "Happy Days of Summer" promotion drawing held on Aug. 1. It is the largest prize ever awarded in a Missouri Lottery promotion.
"Are you kidding me?" replied Holtsclaw, when a Lottery official told him he had won. "That’s amazing."
Holtsclaw, formerly of Dixon, is a senior at Missouri State University in Springfield, majoring in administration management. He is starting his last semester later this month. <
The "Happy Days of Summer" promotion is the first Lottery promotion that Holtsclaw has ever entered. He plans to use some of his prize money to pay his student loans, and he’s going to save the rest to build a house after his girlfriend, Emily Miller, finishes school in a year.
"This is going to help out so much," Holtsclaw said. "It’s indescribable."
The Lottery’s "Happy Days of Summer" promotion features two parts. The first part was the home drawing, which was held on Aug. 1. Players entered by submitting $30 worth of any combination of game 646, "$250,000 Mega Cash," game 613, "Lifetime Riches," and game 581, "$100 Million Cash Spectacular."
The second part of the promotion continues and offers even more ways to win. Players can win by collecting game pieces from the $1 game 663, "Sunny Money," the $2 game 662, "Instant Payday," and the $5 game 661, "$100,000 Money Madness." Game pieces are matched to the spaces on the "Happy Days of Summer" game board to win the prizes as indicated. With the collect-and-win part of the promotion, players can win:
- A 2007 Chevrolet Corvette® OR a 2007 Forest River 31-foot Sunseeker® RV (or the $60,000 cash value - 3 prizes);
- A trip for four to WALT DISNEY WORLD Resort® in Orlando, Fla., OR a trip to Hawaii (or the $6,000 cash value - 12 prizes);
