Kansas City Man Wins $200,000 Powerball Prize

Story Photo A Kansas City man is $200,000 richer after he won the second-level prize playing Powerball. Charles Gercken won the prize when his ticket matched the five white-ball numbers drawn on June 6. He used Quick Pick to let the computer select his numbers. The winning numbers were 5, 9, 14, 45 and 48.
Gercken, 45, purchased his winning ticket at Leftwich Sinclair, 6620 U.S. Highway 69 in Pleasant Valley.
The second-level prize increased from $100,000 to $200,000 when Powerball underwent a game redesign that took effect on Aug. 28, 2005. The game changes were made to create larger and faster growing jackpots.
