Richland Man Wins 'Mega Cash'

Story Photo A Richland man is looking forward to his retirement after he won $250,000 playing the Missouri Lottery’s "$250,000 Mega Cash" Scratchers game. Norman Wilson, 64, said he can begin thinking about retirement a little sooner after winning the game’s top prize with the ticket he purchased at Jiffy Stop, Highway 42 in Kaiser, on June 30. Wilson said he scratched the ticket while he was still at Jiffy Stop, and he said to the clerk, "Look at this. Is that real?" "I probably won’t believe it until I see the check," Wilson said. Wilson, a superintendent for Phillips Grading in Boonville, said he called his wife, Jacque, and their three adult children, but no one believed him. "They just said, ’Yeah, right. Okay Dad, we’ll see you tonight,’" Wilson said about his children’s reaction. Wilson said he plans to pay off his farm with his winnings, so he can retire earlier than expected. The $10 Game, "$250,000 Mega Cash," began on Jan. 31. It offers 30 top prizes of $250,000 and more than $100 million in cash prizes. Twenty-one top prizes remain in the game.
