Walnut Grove Man Wins $10,000 Instantly

Story Photo A Walnut Grove man is counting his blessings today - $10,000 worth of them - after he realized how close his wife came to throwing out an "old" Missouri Lottery "$250,000 Mega Cash" Scratchers ticket worth $10,000. Lewis Weaver, 65, said he bought the ticket earlier in the week at Tiger One Stop, 520-A E. Jackson St. in Willard, and put the ticket in the sun visor of his vehicle, where he forgot about it until June 24.
"I can’t believe I just forgot about it," Weaver said. "My wife said she saw the ticket there and was going to throw it away because she thought it was an old ticket. I’m sure glad she didn’t."
Weaver, who worked for a railroad before getting hurt last year, said the money will come in handy to help pay a few bills.
The $10 Game, "$250,000 Mega Cash," began on Jan. 31. It offers 30 top prizes of $250,000 and more than $100 million in cash prizes.
